Let me start off by saying this, I was frequently bleaching my hair and putting heat on it almost daily for probably over 10 years. YIKES! On top of that, hair has always been something I was never really knowledgeable on and I had no idea which products, techniques, etc., were best for my hair type/texture. This is something I’ve progressively started to learn more about over the years and utilized my hairstylist as a resource for my questions. But I am in no way shape or form an expert at hair. Y’all, believe me when I say I am FAR from it lol. I just wanted to share my experience and progress with you all in hopes to encourage any of you who may be in a similar boat! But, before we get into it, let’s take a brief stroll down memory lane of what my hair has been through over the years, shall we? 🙂
As you can see, lots of bleach/color and lots of hair cuts to remove my dead split ends. LOL The last two pictures on the bottom row, when my hair actually started growing, were when I started going to my current stylist, Laura Vong! She’s the absolute BEST! Between deep conditioning treatments, frequent trims, product recommendations, etc., she just overall helped me learn how to properly care for my hair. I remember at one point when I first started going to see her, I told her about the random, super cheap Walmart products I was using on my hair and she just gave me that look, like….GIRL!
From then on I began investing in some of the same products she used in my hair. (Like this Redken Frizz Dismiss Leave-In Conditioner that’s still one of my faves!) Most recently, one that she recommended was the Olaplex line. She had seen great success with it from a client of hers and thought I could benefit from it too. (She was absolutely right!) Now, I’ll try to keep this post short and sweet and give you a quick breakdown of each product, which will include how to use it and what each product does, as well as the differences I’ve experienced in my hair personally after using them! So let’s jump into it!
No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment This is the first step in a 2-step process that acts as a primer for the No. 3 Hair Perfector. It works to repair damaged hair of all kinds from the inside out by strengthening weakened bonds that are deep within. Begin by spritzing your hair with water to create moisture without making your hair soaked or fully damp. Then, divide your hair into sections and apply a generous amount of No. 0 from root to tip. You’ll also want to be sure to use a wet brush to really comb the product through each section of hair. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then move on to step 2, No. 3 Hair Perfector!
No. 3 Hair Perfector Now, this is the real powerhouse in this 2-step process! It’s concentrated formula really works to repair, strengthen, and just overall improve how your hair looks and feels from within. Apply on top of the No. 0 treatment after 10 minutes and apply generously from root to tip in sections. Again, leave this on for 10 minutes and then wash and condition as normal!
No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo This is no joke the best shampoo I have ever used in my entire life. A little goes a long way, it is so incredibly moisturizing, it eliminates frizz, and it reduces breakage while also maintaining the reparative benefits found in all of Olaplex products. You could try the shampoo alone and see how amazing this line is! Highly recommend!
No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner Just like the shampoo, this conditioner is incredibly moisturizing and has the same benefits as the shampoo too! You can let it soak in your hair while you wash your body, shave, etc and then rinse it out OR you can use this heated cap from Thermal Hair Care that I recently discovered to basically give yourself a salon-like deep conditioning treatment at home! 🙂
No. 6 Bond Smoother This leave-in cream is great for all hair types and, similar to the other Olaplex products, helps to strengthen, hydrate, & moisturize. It also aids in reducing blow drying time and has frizz fighting benefits! Apply a small amount from the middle of hair to the ends on damp or dry hair!
No. 7 Bonding Oil Lastly, the bonding oil with many many benefits. From maintaining the vibrancy of your hair color, protecting your hair from heat damage, providing shine, softness, and minimizing frizz & fly aways! You could apply a few drops directly to your damp or dry hair or even mix them into No. 6 and apply from mid-length to ends for maximum benefits!
For me, the most recognizable difference I noticed in my hair after this treatment was the overall softness of my hair. Whether it was wet or dry, my hair felt so freaking moisturized!! I was literally shook! Detangling was a BREEZE when getting out of the shower, my hair felt silkier and soft after flat ironing, and I had no frizz or crazy fly aways. Another difference I saw was in my curls! I have naturally super curly hair and this treatment brought my curls back to life!
I wish I had a before pic so you could truly appreciate this transformation. But overall, my hair just looks and feels SO much healthier and I immediately noticed a difference after using this Olaplex line. For anyone experiencing any form of damage, I highly suggest giving these products a try! You can shop the line by clicking on each product name above or by clicking the link I’ll include below! Even if you don’t want to splurge and buy them all, you could try the No. 0 treatment (which includes a sample of No. 3 on Sephora.com) and the shampoo and/or conditioner! I just know your hair will love you for it! 😉
